New Years Goals

Image result for goals for 2019

I like goals!  They help guide me where I am going.   I make short term, mid term and long term goals all the time and in all areas of my life.
For example:

  • Long term goal:  Boys graduate college debt free
  • Mid term goal:  No college debt this semester
  • Short term goal:  save ??? each month toward college

Then I work hard toward the short term, so the mid term and long term will happen.

I do this all the time.  I do this because many times the long term goals can seem impossible to meet.  By breaking it down into smaller goals it gives me something more manageable to work towards.  I also have small successes to celebrate.  When I have a success, it makes me keep focused on the long term goal and motivates me to stretch a little harder toward the mid term.  Most goal setters have a specific time frame to reach the goal.  On my long term goal  I don't set a time frame because that goal is more broad - more of a dream goal.  I take the approach that this is a marathon, not a sprint to reach that long term goal.

Last year, I reached all my midterm and small term health goals for 2018.

  • Long term goal:  Healthy weight and body fat%
  • Mid term goal:  Be in single digit jeans and regular boots (not wide calf)
  • Short term goal:  Track my foods daily, eat strict keto, follow fitness plan designed by my trainer,

The long term goal and short term goal will carry forward and the short term will be tweaked.  But I have been really struggling with the what to make my mid term goal until last night.  I asked my trainer what my body fat goal should be - I was thinking more along a long term goal - at the end.  But he gave me a monthly goal.  He was helping more than he knew.

 2019 Health Goal
  • Long term goal:  Healthy weight and body fat%
  • Mid term goal:  loose 1% of my body fat each month, break and stay far away from mental weight loss barrier
  • Short term goal:  Track my foods daily, follow fitness and food plan designed by my trainer(click to see the plan), drink 95 oz of water each day, workout to control my stress (not eat it), eat strict keto
2019 Financial Goal
  • Long term goal:  3-6 months living expenses saved
  • Mid term goal:  Pay off car loans - Jon's by June, then begin Kim's
  • Short term goal:  stick to the budget every month, find ways to save money each month, boys rent straight to savings

2019 Debt Free College Goal
  • Long term goal:  Boys graduate college debt free
  • Mid term goal:  Pay cash for each semester
  • Short term goal:  save ??? each month toward college (there is a number for the ??? but want to keep that private)

So there you have it - My 2019 Goals!
